Requirements

Safe, legal, trusted.

Hunters are trusting you with their tag and their safety. Here's what every paid guide needs before their profile goes live.

  • State guide licenseMost states require a guide or outfitter license to guide for compensation, often with an age minimum, a state hunting license and an exam. Check your state wildlife agency.
  • Land-agency permits where requiredCommercial guiding on national forest land requires a Forest Service special use permit, and BLM land may require a special recreation permit.
  • Background checkWe're adding background checks to guide onboarding before bookings open.
  • Real experience in your areaTell us how long you've hunted it and what you know. Our team reads every application and may ask for more before approving it.

Hunt coaches who don't go into the field with clients follow a lighter verification path.

This creates your free guide account right away. Inside it you'll finish your profile, confirm your license and insurance, and do a quick identity check. Guiding opens state by state, so guide listings go live once your state is open. See guide plans.
