About these terms
In plain wordsBy using HuntsUnited you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site or apps.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and HuntsUnited, LLC, a [STATE] limited liability company ("HuntsUnited", "we", "us"). They cover the HuntsUnited website at huntsunited.com, the Hunt Map, our apps and every related service (together, the "Service").
Some parts of the Service have extra rules that are part of these Terms: the Pro Code of Conduct, the HuntsUnited Guarantee and the cancellation policy shown on each booking. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Your account
In plain wordsYou must be 18 or older, use your real details and keep your password to yourself.
- You must be at least 18 to create an account. Younger hunters can take part in a hunt booked by a parent or guardian who has an account and accepts these Terms for them.
- Give accurate information, including your name, email and home state, and keep it current. Each account is for one person or one business.
- Keep your password secret. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@huntsunited.com if you think someone else has used it.
- We may ask you to confirm your email address. Booking updates and messages are sent to it.
What HuntsUnited is (and isn't)
In plain wordsWe run the marketplace. The guide, coach or business you book is the one providing the service, and they're responsible for it.
HuntsUnited is a marketplace and set of tools. Guides, coaches and businesses listed on HuntsUnited ("Pros") are independent. They are not our employees, agents or partners, and we don't control how they run their hunts or businesses. When you book a Pro, the agreement for the hunt or service is between you and that Pro.
We check some things before a guide listing goes live, such as a state guide license where the state requires one. Those checks are limited. We don't guarantee any Pro's skill, safety record, the game you'll see or the outcome of a hunt. Reviews are opinions of other members.
Booking a guide or coach
In plain wordsSend a request, get a quote, pay a deposit to lock your dates. The same cancellation rules apply to every Pro.
How a booking works
- You send a request with your dates, species and party size. It isn't a booking yet.
- The Pro replies, and may send a quote. Quotes expire if not accepted in time.
- You accept the quote and pay the deposit through HuntsUnited. Your booking is confirmed only when that payment succeeds.
Prices and payment
You pay the price the Pro quotes. Hunters pay no booking fee and no card fee. Payments are processed by Stripe. We hold your payment and release the Pro's share after the hunt, minus our booking fee.
The HuntsUnited cancellation policy
If…You get back
You cancel 30 or more days before the huntEverything you paid
You cancel 14 to 29 days before50%
You cancel within 14 daysNo refund
You didn't draw your tagYour deposit in full
The Pro cancels or doesn't showEverything you paid
The deposit is 25% of the total and secures your dates; the balance is due 30 days before the hunt. Hunts booked and paid through HuntsUnited are also covered by the HuntsUnited Guarantee.
Keep payment on HuntsUnited
Don't pay a Pro you found on HuntsUnited outside HuntsUnited, and don't ask a Pro to take payment off the platform. Off-platform payments aren't covered by the cancellation policy or the Guarantee. To protect members, we automatically screen messages for requests to pay off the platform and for contact details shared before a booking is confirmed.
Guides, coaches and businesses
In plain wordsBe licensed where the law requires it, describe your services honestly, and you keep the price you quote minus our booking fee.
Licenses, permits and insurance
You're responsible for holding and keeping current every license, permit, registration and insurance policy your work requires, including state guide or outfitter licenses and any permits for public land. Rules differ by state, and some states require a license to guide at all. Don't offer a service your license doesn't cover. Tell us right away if a license lapses or is suspended.
Your listing
Your listing, photos, prices and availability must be accurate and yours to use. Only list hunts and services you provide yourself or through people you're responsible for. Describe clearly whether a hunt requires the hunter to hold a tag.
Booking fees and payouts
When a booking is paid through HuntsUnited, we keep a booking fee from the booking subtotal: 15% on the free Guide plan, or 10% on Guide Pro. Payouts go to the account you connect with our payments partner, Stripe, after the hunt and a short hold for problems to be reported. You're responsible for your own taxes. Our payment partner may ask you for identity and tax details.
Cancelling as a Pro
If you cancel a confirmed booking or don't show, the hunter is refunded in full, and repeated cancellations can lead to your listing being paused or removed.
Pro Code of Conduct
In plain wordsEvery guide, coach and business on HuntsUnited agrees to these rules.
- Follow every hunting, wildlife, firearms, land-use and fair-chase law where you operate, and never help anyone break them.
- Put safety first: plan for weather, terrain and emergencies, and don't take a client on a hunt beyond their ability or yours.
- Get permission before taking anyone onto private land, and respect closures and boundaries.
- Represent yourself, your experience and your success rates truthfully. Never post fake reviews or pressure clients for good ones.
- Keep bookings and payments on HuntsUnited.
- Treat every client with respect. No harassment or discrimination of any kind.
- Keep client information private, and use it only to provide the service they booked.
Breaking the Code can lead to your listing being paused or removed and your account being closed.
Memberships and billing
In plain wordsPaid plans renew every month until you cancel. Cancel any time; access lasts to the end of the month you paid for.
- Paid plans (Hunt Map Prime and Elite, Guide Pro and Business Elite) are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are shown on our pricing page before you buy.
- Cancel any time from your account. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. We don't give refunds for partial months unless the law requires it.
- If a payment fails, you keep access for a short grace period while it's retried. After that, the plan reverts to the free plan.
- If we change a price, we'll tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price. You can cancel before then.
- Closing your account cancels any paid plan immediately, without a refund for the rest of the current period.
- Plans bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed and managed by them, under their rules.
The Hunt Map and hunting information
In plain wordsThe map is a planning tool, not a legal boundary or a navigation device. Always confirm the rules and get permission yourself.
Land ownership, boundaries, hunting units, seasons, draw odds, weather and other information on HuntsUnited comes from public agencies and other sources. It may be out of date, incomplete or wrong. It is not a legal survey or an official statement of any regulation.
Before you hunt, confirm boundaries, seasons, tag requirements and access rules with the wildlife agency and land manager, and get permission to enter private land. Don't rely on HuntsUnited alone to navigate or to stay safe; carry a map, compass and a way to call for help.
Shared Hunts let members of a hunt share their locations with each other. You choose when to share and can stop at any time.
Your content
In plain wordsWhat you post stays yours. You let us show it on HuntsUnited.
You keep ownership of the photos, reviews, listings, messages and other content you post ("Your Content"). You give HuntsUnited a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce and adapt Your Content to run, promote and improve the Service. This license ends when Your Content is deleted, except for copies kept in backups for a limited time or as the law requires.
Only post content you have the right to share. Reviews must reflect your own real experience. We remove location data from uploaded photos, and we may remove any content that breaks these Terms.
The Gear Exchange
In plain wordsMembers buy and sell used gear directly with each other. No guns, ammo or anything that needs a license to sell.
When the Gear Exchange is open, sales are between the buyer and the seller. HuntsUnited isn't a party to the sale and doesn't inspect, hold or guarantee items. You may not list firearms or their parts (including receivers, frames and barrels), suppressors, ammunition or reloading powder and primers, explosives, tags or licenses, game meat or animal parts where their sale is restricted, live animals, or anything else that's illegal to sell or that needs a license or background check to transfer. We may remove listings and ban sellers who break these rules.
Rules for everyone
In plain wordsBe honest, legal and respectful.
Don't use HuntsUnited to:
- plan, promote or brag about poaching, trespassing, hunting out of season or any other illegal activity;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or impersonate anyone;
- post false, misleading or fake reviews or listings;
- steer anyone toward paying outside HuntsUnited;
- send spam, or collect other members' information;
- copy, scrape or resell our data or maps, or use automated tools to access the Service without our written permission;
- interfere with the Service, probe its security or get around any limit or access control.
Suspension and closing your account
In plain wordsYou can leave any time. We can suspend accounts that break these Terms.
You can close your account any time in your account settings. Closing it signs you out everywhere, hides your listing, closes open hunt requests and cancels any paid plan. Your data is deleted after 30 days; until then, you can ask support@huntsunited.com to restore the account. We keep records we're required to keep, such as payment records.
We may suspend or close an account, or remove a listing or content, if we reasonably believe it breaks these Terms or the law, puts anyone at risk, or exposes HuntsUnited to liability. Where we can, we'll tell you why. Bookings already paid will be handled under the cancellation policy.
Hunting is risky
In plain wordsHunting can hurt you. You choose to take that risk.
Hunting and outdoor activities involve real risks, including firearms and archery accidents, falls, wildlife encounters, extreme weather, remote terrain far from medical help, vehicle travel and the actions of other people. You choose to take part, and you're responsible for judging whether an activity is right for your fitness, skills and equipment. A Pro may ask you to sign their own waiver.
Disclaimers and liability
In plain wordsWe work hard, but we can't promise everything works perfectly, and our liability is limited.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, HuntsUnited disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent the law allows, HuntsUnited will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any injury, loss or damage arising from a hunt, a Pro's services, an item bought from another member, or your reliance on map or hunting information. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid HuntsUnited in the 12 months before the claim.
Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
You agree to cover HuntsUnited's reasonable costs, including legal fees, from claims arising out of your breaking these Terms or the law, or from your services if you are a Pro.
Disputes
In plain wordsTalk to us first. Most problems get fixed that way.
If you have a problem with HuntsUnited, email support@huntsunited.com first and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. For a problem with a booking, use the cancellation policy and the Guarantee, or contact us and we'll help.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [STATE], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any claim that isn't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in [COUNTY, STATE], except that either of us may bring a claim in small-claims court where it qualifies.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use HuntsUnited after that means you accept the new Terms. If you don't agree, you can close your account.
If any part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a part right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later.
