FAQ

Questions, answered.

Are HuntsUnited guides licensed?

Most states require anyone who guides for compensation to hold a guide or outfitter license from the state wildlife agency, and commercial guiding on national forest land needs a Forest Service special use permit. Paid guides on HuntsUnited must show their license before their profile goes live, and we're adding background checks to guide onboarding.

What's the difference between a guide and a hunt coach?

Guides go into the field with you: scouting, glassing, calling and helping with pack-out. Hunt coaches help you prepare. Think archery or shooting lessons, hunt planning calls, gear checks and first-hunt mentorship.

Do I still need my own tag?

Yes. HuntsUnited doesn't sell tags. You draw or buy your own license and tag through the state wildlife agency. Your guide helps you make the most of it.

How does payment work?

Requests are free to send, and you're never charged until a guide accepts. When online payments launch, you'll pay through HuntsUnited and funds will be held until after the hunt. Cancellation terms are shown on every profile before you book.

Which areas do you cover?
